Introduction: The World of Unwind

After the conflict between the pro-life and pro-choice factions, The government passed an act known as “the Bill of Life that bans abortion but permits parents to allow their children to be “unwound” between 13 and 18. The child doesn’t die but instead is taken away, and the body parts are used to make transplants.

Three teenagers- Connor Lassiter, Risa Ward as well as Levi “Lev” Calder–are set to be released from their wraps for a variety of reasons:

Lev Calder has been raised all his life believing that the possibility of being unwound is an unpaid Tithe–a person who is made explicitly for sacrifice. Contrary to Connor and Risa Lev Calder, he accepts his destiny.

Chapter 10-12: The Highway Incident

Connor, who is seeking to flee, creates a highway crash that involves a bus carrying unwinds. In the chaos that ensues, he is kidnapped by Lev and escapes into the forest with Risa.

Chapter 17-20: Connor and Risa on the Run

Connor and Risa disguise themselves to avoid being captured. They encounter other unwinds who are running away and are introduced to their Underground Network and how it assists unwinds escape to the safety of.

Chapter 21-25: Lev Learns the Truth

When Lev spends more time with CyFi, Lev is aware of how horrifying unwinding can be. The CyFi’s implanted brain tissues occasionally become a dictator, which proves that unwinds aren’t completely gone–they remain in other people and, sometimes, against their will.
